Valance/curtain fabric + modpodge = switchplate cover!
Bottom border/chair rail is a creative DIY project. Cost = $90
Duvet cover & pillows from BB&B, polka dots on dry erase vinyl
View from the crib corner
Crib corner....but no crib yet. Douglas will pick it up from Greensboro in a couple weeks.
Inspiration Piggy gets his own shelf.
Jumping off the colors in the valance fabric, we'll incorporate more purples and blues too. The flower on the left still has to be scrapbook-papered.
My valance (3rd time's the charm!) with extensions on the bottom.

Adding my buddy
Courtney Rae is a teacher too, and she loves crafts as much as I do. I'm adding her so she can share her creativity, too. She's working on a baby's room, because Bennet(t?) is due 2 weeks before Adelle. She is rockin' the guitar theme for her baby boy, so maybe we can get her to post some pics here. My amazingly talented friend, Courtney :)

Inspiration stalking
Okay, to be quite honest, I am an inspiration stalker. I have filled up my GoogleReader with so many awesome blogs with great ideas for all kinds of crafts. I feel like I'll get to them some day, make my own and post my creations here, but the fact is, I just sit here and find more inspirations. I don't actually have the energy to craft after school all day, and who knows what kind of time I won't have once the baby gets here. I fully admit to stalking, but some day, I hope to repay the favor.
Wouldn't it be nice to be one of these wonderful people who get to craft for a living? They make it look so easy. Too many of them are stay-at-home moms or professional crafters. Ahhh, dreams....Okay, I just work at it, a little bit at a time.

Owls, REALLY?!
Okay, what is up with the owl theme for kids/baby/shower lately? When did owls become cool?
I need to take more pictures
I need to take more pictures in my life. I used to keep a journal, but due to minor arthritis, that has fallen by the wayside. I'm hoping that typing and posting on a blog will help to document life's changes, as well as my craftiness.
I've gotten tired of scrapbooking because it has taken me so long to get through my band years, and I"m not even done yet. I feel like I've run out of unique ideas, and since a lot of the pictures are of similar events (i.e. Ramp, halftime shows, bowl trips, team fun, etc), I'm not sure how to distinguish the four years. I haven't done our wedding, which will be 3 years ago this June, and now we're having our first child--talk about pressure! I've thought about pre-making an album for her, but how do I know what the layouts should be when she hasn't even been born yet?!
So, I turned to card-making. Easy pieces: I can get inspiration and finish in no time. Then I send them, and now I'm out and I can't remember what they looked like to make more. So I make multiples (think Christmas cards), and don't USE them! Arrrrggghhhh! So, I've stock piled cards I'm not using, and don't have the every day cards I need to send on a moment's notice.
I've learned in the last year how to knit and crochet. Forget scarves or blankets: too much time. I'm not that good yet that I can't crank them out like my friends who have been doing it for years. So, a friend taught me how to make jewelry this way. While I've tried my best to make the bracelets and necklaces look good enough to sell, something always sticks out to me, and I think, "Who would want that?!" So then, I just put them away in my Caboodle (that's right 90's children, Caboodle, and yes, it's that old) and never see them again.
Big life changes coming my way, and I want to be able to continue these crafty activities, and even find some new ones with inspiring social media, like Pinterest and GoogleReader for others' blogs. So maybe if I take pictures of what I do and post them here, I will be more inclined to keep up with life's changes AND be inspired at the same time.
So, don't expect this to be a daily thing, or even a fairly regular thing, but a place to document what I've done and hope to do while life takes me on its wild ride:) Here's to taking more pictures:)
PS. Happy 61st Birthday, Mom!!!
